Spirit and Truth Worship

John 4:24 The woman at the well said, "Our fathers worshiped in this mountain", Jesus said the hour was coming when we should not worship in the mountain nor in Jerusalem. This is why the Lord Jesus told the woman true worshipers would worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. It's spiritual...not seen with physical sight. The church is the people. Jesus wasn't in a building preaching and teaching unless He was rebuking or teaching the Pharisees. He didn't sit and write out a prepared sermon to give the people a "fresh word". The early believers gathered in homes. It has been said, "Well, Paul was preaching at the different churches"...Paul wrote letters. The epistles are letters...written many times from captivity. The ekklesia or church is a group of living stones....true disciples of Christ are those stones

Christianity vs. Churchianity

Christianity vs. Churchianity

From ZWT Reprints, page 533, September, 1883, by A. A. Phelps.

We are living in an age of shames and counterfeits. Satan seems to have abandoned the hope of crushing out the Christian Church by a process of undisguised hostility, and now seeks to destroy her efficiency by stealthily draining off her vitality, and robbing her of every supernatural element. He "transforms himself into an angel of light", and often assumes to be the special friend and guardian of the Church. Craftily he infuses his deadly virus and inculcates his plausible philosophy, until the moral perception is obscured, the conscience is distorted, and policy runs nearly the whole ecclesiastical machinery. Thus a popularized religion -- which costs nothing and is worth nothing -- is readily accepted, while the old religion of the cross is utterly discarded. The consequence is, that there is religion enough, and Churchianity enough, but a great famine for real Christianity.

Denominations or heresies?

de·nom·i·na·tion
dəˌnäməˈnāSH(ə)n/
noun
noun: denomination; plural noun: denominations
  1. 1.
a recognized autonomous branch of the Christian Church.
    synonyms:religious group, sectcultmovementbodybranchpersuasion,orderschool
    "a Christian denomination"
    • a group or branch of any religion.
      "Jewish clergy of all denominations"

In the original New Testament text...denomination literally means HERESY. Words have been changed, redefined, removed and altered from the Bibles most of us read.  However, God's Word will always be revealed and cannot be hidden or destroyed because He does in fact, watch over it!

Checking In After Checking Out...

This past several months has been a tremendous journey and I fear I haven't seen the hardest parts of being in the wilderness.  To recap:

Truth or Tradition

Matthew 15:3

1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

I'm gonna make this short and sweet.

We should be careful of what we tell  and impose on others regarding our beliefs...or what we've heard or think we know...We should discern and understand the difference between whether what we believe is really truth or tradition?

We pass on and repeat teachings we have heard over the pulpit, on t.v., on the radio, in books, on the internet, etc...that may in reality be useless traditions and doctrines of men or demons and flat out lies.  Just because things have always been done one way, doesn't make it the right way.   Just because it sounds good, doesn't make it true.  Many will find this out, only after it's too late.

The Word of God is Truth.  If our hearts are near to Him, we will live and breathe this! We will contend for Him and love ALL of Him.

We should examine all things against Him with caution.  Every teaching and teacher...no matter how much one trusts them may not actually be sent from God.  The Pharisee/Religious/Anti-Christ spirits are very much in operation today, leading many to destruction through vain rituals and traditions and denying Jesus along the way!  Don't underestimate our opponent and the deception he is spreading.

"Prove ALL things; hold fast that which is good."
1 Thessalonians 5:21

**Note: All tradition is not bad... In the proper context. See 2 Thess. 3:6.

Hell's Best Kept Secret

This sermon was a real eye-opener for me awhile back!  I don't typically put much stock in too many sermons and teachers, as I try to stick to the authority of the Word...that's just me.  Also, I may not agree with every aspect of what Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron teach, but this helped me get more clarity in what is happening in the visible church system.
Give it a listen and share your thoughts if you like.
